I know this was already published… But something didn’t work with the app and it didn’t stay posted… So it’s not really a new post… However, more news and pics will be coming soon!!
So once again it’s been a while and this should be an interesting post.
Before we get into the most recent events, I have to wrap up Rain Room!!! That’s right, RR had a lovely midnight closing after one of the longest 2 weekend days I’ve ever experienced. Honestly, the closing of this exhibit was very bittersweet. I equate it to doing a 3 month run of a show– everyday you get up, put on your costume makeup and hair, and head to the theater. You work with the same cast members and occasionally you have an understudy step in. You get to know your cast members (coworkers. If you are not following the parallels) on a very personal level, you have inside jokes, lines said at certain times. And all day long you are performing side by side for 1000s of people, most of whom you may never see again. Some of your audience members appreciate your work, others could care less– the ones who give you a standing ovation verses the once who leave at intermission!
Anyway, after it closed we all went out to a nice bar in midtown, had some drinks, and talked late into the night about silly RR moments and future plans. I had a realization while enjoying a good gin and tonic (keepin it real Mom)- that these people were more then just my coworkers, they have become my very close friends. Sense coming to NYC I’ve been doing everything on my own mostly because I didn’t know a lot of people, but realizing I had built long term friendships with these people was a really great thing.
And that’s the final curtain
Well for Rain Room stories that is. But sense I’m staying in New York, I have decided to keep this blog running. EXCITING!!!! I KNOW, RIGHT!?!?!?!?
I’ll probably be posting less often, really depending on what the future holds. 🙂
Moving on with more recent events-
I’m going to use the plot and themes of the title show (yes! That’s right– West Side Story is a famous broadway show) to help me talk about recent events. Or at least try 🙂
As Maria loses Tony just when things begin to look possible for them both… I lost the Apple job… Gone so fast in one gun shot, one phone call…
Yes that makes it sound very dramatic but the lady I talked to said they did like me and what to stray in touch in case a position opened up later, I said OK… Can’t hurt.
The death of Tony hints at bring both sides together in a way… Losing Apple has encouraged me to ask for more hours at the yoga studio (which I still love…and I got more hours!) as well as seriously pursue an internship with a technical theater company of sorts. I have an interview next week! (Shout out to Rex– think for the introduction)
Amongst all this work drama… What about home?
Well, my wonderful hosts on Astoria let me extend my stay so I cold continue looking for a place to call home… And…
“There’s a place for us/ somewhere a place for us/ hold my hand are we’re half way there/ hold my hand and I’ll take you there…”
Well, there is now an US… And NYC is that far away place where we are finally able to meet and start over with a life that is ours to explore.
I know, that sounds so poetic… BUT REALLY THOUGH–
There really is a place for us, and the paperwork is being processed right now!!!
I’m very excited about what the future, near and further away, has to offer. I’m really looking forward to furnishing, decorating, and organizing my sections of this apartment as well as working and hopefully finally feeling settled and financially stable enough to really begin pursuing dance classes and auditions.
So here’s to fate and love.
