OH the 1 Train!

If you live in New York City, you know that the weekend trains are an insane mess… Even more so then the MTA normally is. So this weekend, while the A Train is not running up to my stop, I get to take the 1 Train. One never knows what to they are getting into and today was NO different.

Let’s backtrack:

Shakiera may have beaten Pat at foosball, but I played winner and won! 😉 ❤
Last night I was out at a "going on tour" night out for one of my longest and best friends, Shakiera. (If you found and read last nights post, disregard that, it's been taken down… I should NOT write posts while out drinking and bar hopping! So my apologies!). I had an amazing night with wonderful friends… But getting home at 2:00am when I've been up sense 6:00am the previous morning, makes for a tired Christiane on a Sunday morning. This morning I let myself sleep in, read in bed, and eat late. How many times does one get to send off their friend on a year tour?! I messed this up with my former boyfriend and learned a lesson… Friends won't forget you when away on tour. It gives you time apart and great stories for the time you are reunited!

Then it was back to work. YogaWorks on the weekends is sunny, quiet, relaxing, and entertaining.

Usually on Sundays I throw the windows wide open and sit with as much of me outside close to the sun as possible with a good book between class check-ins. And today was no different.

The whole point of this preface is to put out there that I’ve been out and about for the past few days and so further work,p, while waiting for the 1 Train at 66th I just want to be left alone to listen to my music.

But does that happen today? NO. No no no it does not. No sooner had I gotten settled at my preferred end of the platform was i approached by a young man. At first I thought, “oh great, I have to give directions to one tourist who probably has no concept of East and West…” So I remove one earbud. Instead of asking for directions he starts flirting, FLIRTING, with me. A 28 year old part time doorman is flirting with my all the way up the line from 66th to 145th, and I about lost it. Dude, I’m sweaty, tired, recently out of an important relationship, working over full time, and trying g very hard to NOT be rude but I’m not interested!

Of course, as soon as he got off the train, my face relaxed and expressed everything I was feeling and wad noticed by a few people on the train near us who had noticed how much he was talking to me. One was a sweet girl who, I had over heard is also a dancer., of course this sparked a conversation between us and it turns out she just booked her first cruise job after moving to the city. We talked dance shoes a bit. She’s nervous and excited… But it felt so good to wish her the best of luck and assure her it will be a great experience as she got off the train. I’m usually not one for small talk on the trains but this was nice… Different. So to the girl I net today on the 1 Train uptown after 8:00pm today… I don’t know your name, but have a great trip!!
It feels like the world is giving me a chance to fix my karma.

Needless to say, tonight required a lovely glass of wine with dinner while watching one of my favorite New York City based movies, “The Devil Wears Prada”.

And yes, I’m eating out of Tupperware crashed in the living room. #apartmentlive #lifesyle haha.

And that’s my big story for today. I don’t know what the universe has in store for me. One minute I’m wondering when I will awake from the lonely confusing nightmare I feel like I’ve been trapped on for the past 2.5 months… Another I’m tempted to hug a total stranger, but fellow dancer, on the train and wish her luck… Another I’m wishing I’d worn baggy pants and a T-shirt instead of trying to dress myself stylishly today so I’m left alone after work.
I don’t know.

But I do know I have a long day of work ahead of me tomorrow… So I will say goodnight and post this for your reading pleasure.

Thank you all for tour support! Maybe eventually this blog will start to take on a style or focus… But for now it’s just stories

My roommate, Kyle Lacy, who also happens to be my best friend and my boyfriend all in one, needs our help.

He is an incredibly talented rising artist– musician singer songwriter producer actor etc… And his latest project is to record and produce a new EP Album featuring 8 or so brand new songs.

However this is not an easy thing to accomplish, requiring time and funding… Well, that’s where we come in!!! 😀

West Side Stories

Hello everyone!

I know this was already published… But something didn’t work with the app and it didn’t stay posted… So it’s not really a new post… However, more news and pics will be coming soon!!

So once again it’s been a while and this should be an interesting post.

Before we get into the most recent events, I have to wrap up Rain Room!!! That’s right, RR had a lovely midnight closing after one of the longest 2 weekend days I’ve ever experienced. Honestly, the closing of this exhibit was very bittersweet. I equate it to doing a 3 month run of a show– everyday you get up, put on your costume makeup and hair, and head to the theater. You work with the same cast members and occasionally you have an understudy step in. You get to know your cast members (coworkers. If you are not following the parallels) on a very personal level, you have inside jokes, lines said at certain times. And all day long you are performing side by side for 1000s of people, most of whom you may never see again. Some of your audience members appreciate your work, others could care less– the ones who give you a standing ovation verses the once who leave at intermission!

Anyway, after it closed we all went out to a nice bar in midtown, had some drinks, and talked late into the night about silly RR moments and future plans. I had a realization while enjoying a good gin and tonic (keepin it real Mom)- that these people were more then just my coworkers, they have become my very close friends. Sense coming to NYC I’ve been doing everything on my own mostly because I didn’t know a lot of people, but realizing I had built long term friendships with these people was a really great thing.

And that’s the final curtain

Well for Rain Room stories that is. But sense I’m staying in New York, I have decided to keep this blog running. EXCITING!!!! I KNOW, RIGHT!?!?!?!?

I’ll probably be posting less often, really depending on what the future holds. 🙂

Moving on with more recent events-
I’m going to use the plot and themes of the title show (yes! That’s right– West Side Story is a famous broadway show) to help me talk about recent events. Or at least try 🙂

As Maria loses Tony just when things begin to look possible for them both… I lost the Apple job… Gone so fast in one gun shot, one phone call…

Yes that makes it sound very dramatic but the lady I talked to said they did like me and what to stray in touch in case a position opened up later, I said OK… Can’t hurt.

The death of Tony hints at bring both sides together in a way… Losing Apple has encouraged me to ask for more hours at the yoga studio (which I still love…and I got more hours!) as well as seriously pursue an internship with a technical theater company of sorts. I have an interview next week! (Shout out to Rex– think for the introduction)

Amongst all this work drama… What about home?

Well, my wonderful hosts on Astoria let me extend my stay so I cold continue looking for a place to call home… And…
***

“There’s a place for us/ somewhere a place for us/ hold my hand are we’re half way there/ hold my hand and I’ll take you there…”

***
Well, there is now an US… And NYC is that far away place where we are finally able to meet and start over with a life that is ours to explore.
I know, that sounds so poetic… BUT REALLY THOUGH–
There really is a place for us, and the paperwork is being processed right now!!!

I’m very excited about what the future, near and further away, has to offer. I’m really looking forward to furnishing, decorating, and organizing my sections of this apartment as well as working and hopefully finally feeling settled and financially stable enough to really begin pursuing dance classes and auditions.

So here’s to fate and love.
